Settlement Sunday #14

This weeks Settlement Sunday is an easy one, which makes for a pretty boring post and video. Nonetheless it still really good. I've had macaroons plenty of times but I don't think I've ever had brown sugar macaroon or macaroons that don't coconut in them. It's surprising that there are only three simple ingredients: brown sugar, pecans, and egg white. It took about 5 minutes to put it together and that's while filming it. It's such a simple recipe that most of the video is me shoveling brown sugar into the measuring cup.

So simple, yet so good. This recipe is defiantly a keeper and one that could easily be build off of.

Uwajimystery #23

S.S.D.D.

This weeks Uwajimystery is well, crap. I did a post before on an item that looked a lot like dog poop, but what I found now is... well just have a look for yourself.

I don't know what it says but I can think of a few things to describe it as. It's not even close to looking appetizing. If you're going to make something turd shaped don't make it brown and sticky looking.

Looking at the package it's a little hard to tell just what this crap will taste like. The ingredients give some hints.

Opening the package I immediately get a hint of brown sugar, then looking in you see a pile of turds sitting there.

Not only do they look funny, they taste funny as well. The brown sugar and caramel are a little strong and the along with the black sesame seed it is an odd combination. I have to say I don't give it my endorsement, stay away from this crap.

Settlement Sunday #13

This weeks Settlement Sunday is good old classic Macaroni and Cheese. It's just strait forward, simple, and good. I picked up two types of cheeses for this recipe, both were Tillamook cheddars. One was a smoked mild cheddar and the other was a extra shark aged cheddar. The combination worked really well together. For the topping I just used crumbled up ritz crackers. Next time I make this, and there will defiantly be a next time, I will probably make a thicker crust on top. It gets really nice and crisp and crunchy, man I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

What I'm Up To

A Day In The Studio

This is a quick video showing what a typical day in the studio is like right now. Were moving pretty fast because we all just had our morning coffee.

Well, that's all I really have to post for now. I was going to take a longer video but it would have just be us dong the same thing over and over again all day long. I'm not really doing much more then this at the moment, there is a lot of work that needs to get done and only a short amount of time to do it in. I still have a few hours here and there when I can work on my own work but lately it's been filled with getting all my tax stuff together and working the numbers so I can get the best return I can. Last year I got $4 back, hopefully I can double that this year.

Settlement Sunday #12

This weeks Settlement Sunday is something that is so so good, Chocolate Toffee Bars. Feel free to take a second and wipe away that drool off your chin. They went together simple enough, would have been easier with a mixer, again. I wasn't sure if my pan was oblong enough but it seemed to do the job. Here's how it all went together.

I was planning on taking some into work tomorrow but I'm not sure if they will last. They are really good when they are still warm out of the oven, not sure if I will find out how they are cold. This is a definite recipe that will go in my save to make again pile. I even like it with the nuts.

Thrifty #17

Well there you have it, that's the best I could do half drunk. I started typing it out about 5 or 6 times and messed up all within the first few sentences. Eventually I just said to hell with it and typed the whole thing out mistakes or not. It's not the straightest or truest typewriter but it gets the job done and the small little inconsistencies make it a little more organic as well and less mechanical. I really do like this typewriter.

Here are some pictures of it.

Watch This

Packages

It's interesting to think about the packages you ship and the journey they go on before they reach their destination. This short film does a good job of animating the sounds recoded from inside a package on its journey from one place to another.

Today I shipped a ring off to Geneva, Switzerland. After watching this I'm going to be thinking of that little package on it's journey.

Settlement Sunday #11

For this weeks Settlement Sunday I decided to just make something simple and good. So I went with Chili Con Carne.

This is a very simple and plain chili recipe, and even though it's really good I would defiantly change a few things up. First off I would increase the number and amount of ingredients. This recipe hardly makes 3 medium bowls full. I would also add a little spice and maybe some cheese or sour cream on top at the end. This is still a great simple basic chili recipe that you can build off of and create something uniquely yours.
